Lots of things. All connected.
I have a hardhat, a pair of work boots, a great camera, and many years’ experience shooting at active construction sites. Here are just a few samples of my work.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to meet and talk about potential projects. Click here to send me an email.

Thank you for taking a look at my photos.
My clients enjoy getting shots that include people, along with shots that don’t. Both can be useful when it comes to websites, printed pieces, and project documentation.
I’ve had lots of practice taking pictures of people who don’t even know they’re being photographed. The resulting images often have a nice, natural, and unposed look to them.
A good telephoto lens helps me capture action-shots while also staying well out of the way of busy workers and dangerous equipment.
Some of the photos I take are fairly straightforward. Others—like this one—are shot using more dynamic points-of-view. I try my best to give my clients plenty of choices to select from.
My background as a graphic designer has taught me to always be on the lookout for interesting ways of composing images. And, as Ansel Adams once said, “Good photos are knowing where to stand.”
This, and the 10 photos that follow, were part of an ongoing project where I was asked to shoot photos during the entire refurbishing and reconstruction process of a historic building in Lynden, Washington. Dawson Construction and RMC Architects of Bellingham, Washington, were the clients.
I also shoot at construction sites where larger equipment is being used. When working at especially busy construction sites, and around especially large machinery, my clients often assign one of their workers to help make sure I stay out of the way of people, machines, and danger, while I concentrate on hunting for great photo opportunities.
Another shot that looks like it was taken up close, but was actually snapped from an out-of-the-way distance using a telephoto lens.
Typically, a couple dozen shots will be snapped of a worker doing their job in order to catch the one or two that look really good.
The city of Lynden was so excited about this project that they repaved Main Street in anticipation of the building’s Grand ReOpening.
I also specialize in taking pictures of finished products. The Inn At Lynden is the anchor tenant of this building, and there are at least a half-dozen sub-tenants inside.
In addition to the big, wide shots of projects, I also point my camera at the smaller details of my clients’ work.
Another detail shot. Photos like this, when combined with larger-scale images, can do a very nice job of portraying the full scope of a construction project.
The Avenue Bread Cafe is one of the building’s sub-tenants. I shot this photo from their upstairs seating area so that I could show off the space’s original plank flooring and its sturdy pillars.
If you’re interested, I’ve also got an extensive gallery of architectural shots. Click here if you’d like to take a look.
